close up view of our camping spot @ JT. We stayed here for 5 nights. Here we are in the process of unpacking the truck in search of mice...
Although we couldn't find any rodents, Joel had a sock chewed up and a hole chewed in his pack where he had mistakenly left some snacks.
Here we are ready to start the climb up the NW corner of Headstone Rock
Headstone Rock was one of the most adrenaline pumping climbs we did due to it's 5.6 rating and high exposure plus the strong wind that day.
Here's Headstone Rock. The climb began at the bottom of this massive boulder - about 50 above the ground level....
...and ended at the top of the boulder about 60 feet up from the bottom of the boulder.
It was a really fun climb and a lot larger when climbing up the corner of it
Joel works on anchor #2
Abbi tries out a Heisman pose as she makes her way down the mountain through endless boulder fields.
Here is a nice view of our camp spot if you can open this pic up larger
Joel looks for a good spot for an easy and less stressful top-rope climb situation.
At last a 50' high 5.8 rated classic crack climbing top rope. No stress here
A 5.8 is very difficult. Here Abbi prepares to take a crack at making the climb on her 1st try.
Here she is showing promising technique past the 1st difficult move
As you can see she made it past the 1st tough move, she is making nice use of the hand crack and she is keeping good feet on the rock.
Abbi completes the 5.8 climb!!!
Now that we are done with JT, it's time to drive into LA
Our last day of climbing (A 100' top 5.7 top rope)
the 60m rope was just long enough
Here's a view from the top of that 5.8 climb (notice our camper/truck in background?)
I love how Joel is wearing a t-shirt and Abbi is wearing a jacket, hat, hood, and gloves. Glad to hear that you made it safely all the way to Pasadena!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelly, yeah it's finally good to be here, now all we have to do is find an apt. Tell Matt we said hi!
